This joint military exercise builds upon the success of previous editions, with the fourth edition held on February 20 last year at the Foreign Training Node, Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand. During the 14-day exercise, which focused on sharing best practices in sub-conventional operations under UN mandate, forty-five soldiers from each country participated.
The Ministry of Defence highlighted that the exercise serves as a platform for promoting positive relations between the Indian and Uzbekistani armies. The Indian Army contingent, comprising troops from an infantry battalion of the Garhwal Rifles Regiment, is geared up for the upcoming exercise. Notably, the first edition of the Dustlik exercise took place in Uzbekistan in November 2019.
Through initiatives like Exercise Dustlik, India and Uzbekistan continue to deepen their defense ties, contributing to regional stability and cooperation.
