In a recent development, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has penned a letter to the Superintendent of Tihar Jail, expressing his dismay over the jail administration’s statements regarding the provision of insulin to him.

Kejriwal’s letter refutes the claims made by Tihar Jail authorities, asserting that he has consistently requested insulin on a daily basis due to his escalating blood sugar levels.
“I have read the statement of Tihar administration in the newspaper. I felt sad after reading the statement. Both the statements of Tihar are false. I am asking for insulin daily. I showed the glucose metre readings and said that the sugar is going very high three times a day. Sugar goes between 250 to 320,” the letter stated.
Kejriwal emphasized that his blood sugar levels have consistently ranged between 250 to 320, and his fasting sugar level remains between 160-200 every day, necessitating the regular administration of insulin.
Moreover, the AAP leader challenged the credibility of the Tihar administration’s assertion that AIIMS doctors had assured there were no serious health concerns. Kejriwal clarified that the AIIMS doctors had not made such statements and were yet to provide medical advice after reviewing his data and medical history.
Expressing his disappointment, Kejriwal accused the Tihar administration of succumbing to political pressure and disseminating false information. He urged the authorities to adhere to the law and constitution in their actions.
Meanwhile, AAP leader Atishi raised serious allegations against the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Tihar officials, alleging a conspiracy to hinder Kejriwal’s access to insulin in jail.
“Kejriwal had filed his application in Rouse Avenue Court that he wants to consult his doctor through video conferencing and start insulin. ED and Tihar administration have opposed this application. They have said that Arvind Kejriwal does not need insulin. They said in the court that they have talked to the AIIMS doctors about what Kejriwal needs,” Atishi asserted.
The unfolding situation underscores the growing tension between the AAP and Tihar Jail authorities, raising concerns about the provision of essential medical care to inmates, particularly in high-profile cases.
