The court has ordered the School Service Commission (SSC) to conduct fresh recruitment, emphasizing the need for transparency and fairness in the process. Additionally, those who were recruited illegally have been instructed to return their salaries within six weeks.

The ruling affects appointments in various categories, including teachers of classes 9, 10, 11, and 12, as well as group-C and D staffers, all recruited through the State Level Selection Test-2016 (SLST).

Union Minister Anurag Thakur seized the opportunity to criticize Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, accusing her government of orchestrating a recruitment scam. Thakur emphasized that the court’s decision exposed the deception perpetrated on the public, alleging that cash exchanges were involved in securing jobs.

Thakur’s criticism extended beyond Banerjee’s government, as he also targeted the Congress party for lacking a clear vision. He pointed out the absence of a roadmap and highlighted the party’s struggles in fielding candidates for elections.

In contrast, Thakur praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, citing his commitment to developing India and the existence of well-defined plans for the country’s progress.

The ruling by the Calcutta High Court underscores the importance of upholding integrity in recruitment processes and serves as a reminder of the consequences of malpractice in public service appointments.
