Congress Candidate Manickam Tagore Distributed Cash During LS Election Campaign – Confirms SP Madurai: A video circulating on social media purportedly shows cash being distributed during an election campaign event for Manickam Tagore, the Congress candidate for the Virudhnagar constituency in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The authenticity of the video was confirmed by Superintendent of Police BK Arvind in Madurai.
Tagore, addressing party supporters and locals during a campaign in Madurai, expressed confidence in the Congress’s manifesto, emphasizing its focus on addressing the needs of the people. He praised the manifesto, known as ‘Nyay Patra,’ and highlighted the positive response it has received from the public.
In response to Prime Minister Modi’s visits to Tamil Nadu, Tagore asserted that the state firmly supports Chief Minister MK Stalin. He stated that regardless of Modi’s visits, the people of Tamil Nadu will continue to stand with Stalin, aiming to secure all 40 Lok Sabha seats in the state.
The general elections in Tamil Nadu are scheduled for April 19, with voting for all 39 seats to be conducted in the first phase. In the previous 2019 elections, the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance, which includes the Congress, secured a significant victory, winning 38 out of 39 seats in the state.
In the 2019 elections, the DMK won 23 seats with a vote share of 33.2%, while the Congress secured 8 seats with a 12.9% vote share, and the CPI won two seats in Tamil Nadu.
The upcoming Lok Sabha elections will be held in seven phases across the country, beginning on April 19, with the results scheduled to be announced on June 4.
