In the wake of a recent firing incident outside Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s residence in Bandra, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde met with the actor to discuss security measures. The meeting, which took place at Salman’s upscale Galaxy Apartments, aimed to address concerns following the alarming incident.
CM Shinde, speaking to the media after the meeting, assured Salman and his family of the government’s full support and directed the police to take swift action. Two suspects involved in the shooting have already been apprehended and are under interrogation for further leads.
Expressing determination to eradicate criminal gangs like the Lawrence Bishnoi group allegedly linked to the incident, CM Shinde emphasized the government’s commitment to rooting out organized crime in Maharashtra. He highlighted the need to prevent such incidents and vowed decisive action against any perpetrators.
Salman Khan’s father, veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, along with other dignitaries including former MLA Baba Siddiqui and Yuva Sena’s Rahul Kanal, were present during the meeting, highlighting the solidarity and support extended to the actor by various quarters.
Following the incident, CM Shinde promptly contacted Salman to provide additional security, demonstrating the government’s proactive stance in safeguarding public figures. He also instructed the Mumbai Police Commissioner to bolster Salman’s security detail in light of the perceived threat.
The two suspects, identified as Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal from Bihar, were arrested by Kutch Police and subsequently handed over to the Mumbai Crime Branch. CCTV footage captured the assailants firing outside Salman’s residence early Sunday morning before fleeing the scene.
Preliminary investigations revealed the suspects’ alleged connection to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, prompting intensified scrutiny into organized crime networks operating in the region.
Notably, Salman Khan’s security level has been elevated since 2022 due to threats from notorious gangsters, necessitating precautions such as carrying a personal firearm and acquiring an armored vehicle for added protection.
In response to the incident, Salman’s brother Arbaaz Khan issued a statement reaffirming the family’s shock and concern over the disturbing event. He emphasized the family’s cooperation with the Mumbai Police’s ongoing investigation and urged the public to disregard any misinformation circulating in the media.
The incident underscores the challenges posed by organized crime and the importance of collaborative efforts between authorities and public figures to ensure safety and security in the entertainment industry. With CM Shinde’s reassurance and concerted efforts by law enforcement agencies, steps are being taken to prevent such incidents and uphold the rule of law.
