Nadda remarked that the Congress party had a historical policy of isolating the Northeast from the rest of the country. He credited Prime Minister Modi for connecting the region to the mainland through various developmental projects.

Highlighting the progress made, Nadda mentioned that over 70% of the Northeast region is now free from the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), a significant step towards normalcy and development.

He underlined Prime Minister Modi’s extensive visits to the Northeast, surpassing the combined visits of previous Prime Ministers. Additionally, Nadda praised the efforts of Union Ministers, who collectively made 680 visits to the region in the last decade.

Nadda outlined Modi’s vision for the Northeast, referring to it as ‘Ashta Lakshmi,’ symbolizing eight pillars of development. These pillars include peace, hydropower generation, tourism, 5G connectivity, culture, natural farming, sports, and nurturing the region’s potential.

As the Lok Sabha elections approach, the Election Commission is ensuring transparency and fairness in the electoral process. The Chief Electoral Officer of Assam, Anurag Goel, confirmed the deployment of GPS tracking devices on all vehicles transporting Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). Additionally, satellite phones will be provided in remote areas to facilitate communication.

Goel expressed confidence in conducting a free and fair election, highlighting the presence of observers in all constituencies. The first phase of elections in Assam will cover five constituencies: Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Lakhimpur, Kaziranga, and Sonitpur, scheduled for April 19.

With development initiatives and electoral preparations in place, the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Assam are poised to reflect the aspirations of the people and contribute to the continued progress of the Northeast region.
