Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has voiced strong opposition to the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI (M)) manifesto’s pledge to eliminate nuclear weapons, stating that it poses a serious threat to India’s security. Singh, speaking at a public gathering in Kasaragod district, Kerala, emphasized the significance of India’s nuclear arsenal, especially given the nuclear capabilities of neighboring countries.

Singh condemned the CPI (M)’s proposal as “playing with the country’s security” and labeled it a “conspiracy” to weaken India’s defense posture. He expressed concerns that relinquishing nuclear weapons, as proposed by the CPI (M), would compromise India’s national security, particularly in a region where both neighboring nations possess nuclear arsenals.
Highlighting the BJP’s commitment to safeguarding India’s security, Singh highlighted the importance of maintaining a strong defense posture, especially in coastal regions like Kerala. He promised to prioritize coastline protection, emphasizing its benefits for the local fishing community.
In addition to criticizing the CPI (M) manifesto, Singh took aim at the opposition parties in Kerala, accusing them of corruption and mismanagement. He alleged a potential alliance between the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the United Democratic Front (UDF), likening it to a “Money Heist” at the national level.
Singh also questioned the credibility of the Congress Party and the LDF, highlighting their historical electoral defeats and lack of representation in several states across India. He accused them of outdated ideologies and reiterated the BJP’s commitment to modernizing Kerala’s economy and infrastructure.
Promising development initiatives for Kerala, Singh assured support for the state’s fishermen community and proposed the establishment of new eco-tourism centers, particularly benefiting tribal families through homestay opportunities. He cited past government achievements, including the successful evacuation of Indian citizens from conflict zones such as Iraq and Sudan.
In conclusion, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s critique of the CPI (M) manifesto reflects the BJP’s staunch stance on national security and development. As election season approaches, the debate over defense policies and strategic priorities is likely to intensify, shaping the discourse in Kerala’s political landscape.
