In a public rally held in Udhampur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated the government’s commitment to restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. He also assured that assembly elections would be conducted in the region soon.

PM Modi expressed confidence that Jammu and Kashmir would regain its status as a state, allowing residents to engage with their elected representatives to fulfill their aspirations.
Highlighting the progress in the region, PM Modi emphasized that recent years have witnessed elections taking place without the shadow of terrorism or cross-border firing, marking a significant step towards normalcy.
The Prime Minister highlighted the developmental initiatives in Jammu and Kashmir, including the establishment of institutions like AIIMS, IITs, and IIMs, as well as the improvement of infrastructure such as roads, tunnels, and railways.
PM Modi emphasized the transformation in the mindset of people in Jammu and Kashmir, noting the increased influx of tourists and devotees to the region.
Reflecting on the past decade, PM Modi acknowledged the improvements in various sectors like roads, electricity, water, and transportation, while also stressing the need to further elevate the region’s development in the coming years.
Assuring the residents, PM Modi reaffirmed his commitment to addressing the longstanding issues plaguing Jammu and Kashmir, including ensuring respect for women and providing food security to the underprivileged.
In the upcoming general elections, PM Modi urged voters to choose a strong government that can effectively tackle challenges and drive development across the country.
The BJP has nominated Union Minister Jitendra Singh for the Udhampur constituency, who has been representing the area since 2014. The Congress has fielded Choudhary Lal Singh, with support from the Peoples Democratic Party.
Udhampur is scheduled to vote in the first phase on April 19, with the BJP aiming to maintain its stronghold in the region, while the National Conference seeks to make inroads.
