Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the INDI alliance during a rally in Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh. He criticized the opposition bloc for its earlier remarks on “Shakti” made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing them of vowing to eradicate Shakti.

Addressing a crowd in support of BJP candidate Jitin Prasada, PM Modi highlighted the significance of Navratri and the worship of Shakti. He expressed astonishment at the large turnout despite the festive occasion, emphasizing the unity behind the slogan, “Fir Ek Baar, Modi Sarkaar.“

Referring to Rahul Gandhi’s comments during his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Mumbai, PM Modi condemned the opposition’s stance against Shakti. Rahul Gandhi had expressed concerns about the influence of power (Shakti) in various institutions, including electronic voting machines (EVMs) and investigative agencies.
PM Modi accused the Congress of indulging in appeasement politics and disrespecting the spirit of Shakti, citing instances where Congress leaders defected to the BJP, allegedly due to the overwhelming influence of power.
Rahul Gandhi, in response, accused PM Modi of distorting his words, asserting that Congress was fighting against hateful forces (asuri Shakti).
PM Modi also criticized the Congress manifesto, likening it to that of the Muslim League, and accused the party of obstructing the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
He urged the people to remember those who opposed the Ram Temple construction and alleged that Congress and Samajwadi Party were opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act due to appeasement politics.
PM Modi highlighted his government’s efforts to honor Sikh sentiments, including initiatives such as the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor and commemorating important Sikh festivals.
He also addressed the issues faced by sugarcane farmers, contrasting the BJP’s efforts with the alleged neglect under Congress and SP rule.
In the upcoming elections in Pilibhit, BJP has fielded Jitin Prasada, replacing Varun Gandhi, marking the first time since 1989 that a Gandhi family member is not contesting from the constituency.
Pilibhit will vote in the first phase on April 19, with various parties vying for the seat, including BSP and Congress.
The rally in Pilibhit highlighted the fierce political competition in Uttar Pradesh, with PM Modi rallying support for the BJP and criticizing the opposition’s stance on key issues like Shakti and religious sentiments.
