President & PM Pays Tribute to Jallianwala Bagh Massacre Victims: On the solemn anniversary of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu led the nation in paying homage to the victims who lost their lives in one of the darkest chapters of India’s freedom struggle.

In a poignant gesture, Prime Minister Modi shared a video encapsulating the tragic events of 1919 and honoring the courage and sacrifice of those who fell victim to the senseless violence. Expressing his condolences, he said, “On behalf of my family members across the country, I pay my heartfelt tribute to all the brave martyrs of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.“

President Droupadi Murmu echoed these sentiments, expressing her deep respect for the freedom fighters who laid down their lives for the nation. She remarked, “My heartfelt tribute to all the freedom fighters who sacrificed everything for the motherland in Jallianwala Bagh! The countrymen will always be indebted to all those great souls who sacrificed their lives for Swaraj.”
The Jallianwala Bagh massacre occurred on April 13, 1919, when hundreds of peaceful protesters gathered to demonstrate against the repressive Rowlatt Acts were mercilessly gunned down by British forces. This brutal act of violence remains a stark reminder of the atrocities committed during British colonial rule in India.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also paid his respects to the martyrs, acknowledging their invaluable contribution to India’s freedom movement. He stated, “Jallianwala Bagh is a living symbol of the cruelty and inhumanity of British rule. This massacre awakened the revolutionary flame hidden in the hearts of the countrymen.”
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh joined in honoring the sacrifices made by the victims, emphasizing their supreme courage and dedication to the cause of freedom. He affirmed, “Remembering the martyrs of Jallianwala Bagh, Amritsar who were massacred on this day in 1919. I salute their supreme courage and sacrifice. Their sacrifice will always be remembered.“
As the nation commemorates the anniversary of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, it stands as a testament to the resilience and determination of the Indian people in their quest for freedom and justice. The sacrifices made by those brave souls continue to inspire future generations to uphold the principles of liberty and democracy.
