Ravi Shankar Prasad says Constitution in in Danger from Congress and Allies, Not Modi or BJP, as History Shows: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ravi Shankar Prasad raised concerns on Friday about the integrity of the Constitution during the era of Congress governance, particularly during the imposition of the Emergency.

In a press conference, Prasad emphasized the significance of safeguarding the Constitution, stating that during the Emergency period imposed by the Congress, there were endeavors to alter it.
He refuted claims of BJP’s intention to amend the Constitution, affirming the party’s commitment to upholding its sanctity. Prasad highlighted the historical context, asserting that it was the Congress party that posed a threat to the Constitution during its tenure.
Prasad criticized the opposition, citing signs of frustration and allegations regarding potential alterations to the Constitution, which he dismissed as unfounded.
He underscored the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) dedication to preserving the Constitution’s principles, reassuring that there were no intentions within the alliance to amend it.
Regarding the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Prasad expressed optimism about the NDA’s performance, hinting at projections exceeding 400 seats. He attributed this anticipated success to public support and confidence in the alliance’s governance.
Prasad’s remarks come amidst the commencement of voting in the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections across various states and Union Territories.
In Bihar, where polling for 40 Lok Sabha seats is scheduled across seven phases, the BJP leader highlighted the importance of electoral participation.
He reminisced about the NDA’s triumph in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in Bihar, where the alliance secured a significant majority of seats.
Prasad urged voters to uphold the democratic process and exercise their franchise responsibly in the forthcoming elections.
With his assertions, Prasad seeks to underscore the BJP’s commitment to constitutional values while cautioning against perceived threats posed by political adversaries.
