West Bengal: CBI Unearths Cache of Weapons in Sandeshkhali Residence Linked to Sheikh Shahjahan

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has made a significant discovery in Sandeshkhali, West Bengal, uncovering a cache of arms and ammunition during a search operation. The search was conducted in connection with a case related to violence against Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials, following orders from the Calcutta High Court.

Acting on information received during their investigation, the CBI, along with CRPF personnel, raided two premises in Sandeshkhali, North 24 Parganas, suspecting the presence of incriminating items at the residence of an associate of Sheikh Shahjahan, a central figure in the case.

During the operation, the team recovered an array of weapons, including three foreign-made revolvers, an Indian revolver, a Colt official police revolver, a foreign-made pistol, and a country-made pistol. Additionally, a substantial quantity of ammunition was seized, consisting of 120 09 mm bullets, 50 .45 calibre cartridges, 120 09 mm calibre cartridges, 50 .380 cartridges, and eight .32 cartridges.

The search also yielded numerous incriminating documents pertaining to Sheikh Shahjahan. Furthermore, the discovery of suspected country-made bombs prompted the involvement of teams from the National Security Guard (NSG) for safe handling and disposal.

Authorities have stated that the investigation is ongoing, indicating the possibility of further developments in the case.
