When Congress Wins, EVM Doubts Disappear: Rathore Slams Opposition Post-SC Verdict

Rajasthan Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore, a prominent leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has launched a scathing attack on the Congress party. His remarks came in response to the Supreme Court’s rejection of petitions seeking complete verification of votes cast through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) with Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) slips.

When Congress Wins, EVM Doubts Disappear: Rathore Slams Opposition Post-SC Verdict

Rathore accused the Congress of resorting to drama and questioning the Election Commission’s integrity only when it anticipates defeat in elections. He pointed out that the Congress has historically remained silent on EVMs when it emerges victorious, suggesting that their current stance stems from fear of losing the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Expressing confidence in the BJP’s prospects, Rathore predicted a resounding victory in Rajasthan, claiming that the party would secure all 25 parliamentary seats. He attributed this anticipated success to alleged corruption and mismanagement during the Congress’s rule in the state, contrasting it with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s developmental initiatives.

Rathore did not spare Congress leader Rahul Gandhi from criticism, accusing him of lacking vision and intention for the country. He highlighted the exodus of leaders from the Congress to the BJP, attributing it to dissatisfaction with Gandhi’s leadership.

Furthermore, Rathore criticized the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDI Alliance), claiming that its constituent parties are primarily focused on their own survival rather than serving the people.

The debate over EVMs has gained traction in light of the Supreme Court’s decision and the upcoming elections. While some argue for their reliability, citing their use in numerous countries, others, including Rathore, question their integrity and advocate for increased verification measures.

In Rajasthan, Phase 2 of polling witnessed significant participation across various constituencies. The BJP’s dominance in the state, evidenced by its clean sweep in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and a majority of seats in 2019, underscores its confidence heading into the 2024 polls.

As the political landscape heats up with accusations and counter-accusations, the fate of the upcoming elections remains uncertain, with parties vying for supremacy and voters demanding transparency and accountability in the electoral process.
